1 on 1 Mentorship

With this 1 on 1 weekly mentorship program, I'll work with you to enhance your artistic skills and help you become a better, more focused artist.

In the past few years, I've noticed that many artists struggle to stay motivated and accountable, especially when left on their own.

With weekly meetings, assignments, and feedback sessions, I hope to provide you with a structure and guidance to push your work to the next level. These sessions are one-on-one video meetings on Zoom to improve areas most important to your progress. Every session will include paintovers, extensive feedback, and a discussion of how we can help you overcome your artistic roadblocks. As a preparation for this mentorship, I recorded demos (not voiced, just video) that you could watch on your own between sessions to revisit some concepts and techniques.

I’m still trying to be very active both as a freelance Concept Artist and as someone who likes to do personal work consistently (I still post new works every week, for almost six years now). So if you’re looking for professional advice or how to keep that momentum with your own work, I’ll gladly share my insights!

Options

  • Sprint

3 sessions, 60mins each, access to Midweek Catchup meetings

This shorter, 3-week plan is a more bite-sized option where we will mainly discuss your current work and aspects that may need the most of your attention. I'll be sharing materials from lectures that could be most useful to your skill level. We will also prepare a plan for you on how you could continue your development after the mentorship.

  • Long run

5 sessions, 90 mins each, lessons, access to Midweek Catchup meetings

The longer, more structured version, with specific topics for each session. Each meeting starts with me teaching a different subject (please check the list below). These are not overly long lessons; each lesson/lecture part is around 30mins long, with the rest of the time dedicated to your work, feedback, questions, paintovers, etc. These topics are primarily for you, so you could laser-focus each week on a single aspect of picture making.

  • Deep Dive

7 sessions, 90 mins each, lessons, 2 extra topics, Midweek Catchup meetings

Here you'll follow all topics from the previous tier, with two extra lessons helping you to produce a large body of work or more refined pieces. You'll also have a bigger, two-week-long final assignment. Perfect for artists interested in working together a bit longer and making some portfolio pieces.

How it works

Within 48 hours after purchase, I'll reach out to you to set up the day and time of the meetings.

  • The session will be on Zoom every week, same day, same time. I'll be keeping sessions mostly during weekends. If you can't join on Sat/Sun, please get in touch with me before making a purchase, so we can find a time that could work for both of us.

  • Each week you'll get a new assignment that could fit into your schedule; ideally, you could have at minimum 4-6 hours each week to do new work.

  • I want to give you assignments that will be challenging and fun for you and perhaps give you the opportunity to use them or develop them further as portfolio pieces

  • I’ll be providing paintovers on your work and also demos during feedback sessions

  • To participate, you have to be 18 years old and above

  • All sessions and materials are taught in English. Please don't worry if you don't speak English perfectly; luckily, this is an art class, not a poetry class, so it should be fine :)

  • Feedback and critiques are provided during sessions only, but you could show me WIP files during Midweek Catchup to get some quick general directions and feedback (more details below)

  • Resources: demos and more

Between sessions, you could access Resource page. Here you'll find assignments, homework tips, PSD files with steps and layers, and also prerecorded demos, both real-time and time-lapses (all demos are video only, no audio).

  • Midweek Catchup calls

Midweek Catchup is an additional weekly, 60mins long group call available for all artists currently enrolled in mentorships. Here you could get both quick feedback for your assignment and see how other artists work on their homework!

  • Continue learning after mentorship

After finishing your mentorship, you'll still have access to all the materials from the Resource page for the next 60 days. You'll also get a short PDF with ideas on how to continue your growth as an artist.

Lesson plan (for 5/7 sessions metorships)

  • 1. Controlling value without using grayscale

  • 2. Observation skills and using reference material

  • 3. How to pick colors! Different ways to approach color sketching

  • 4. Light and color fundamentals and how to use them to refine your artwork

  • 5. Doing detailed work while preserving the energy of the sketch

  • 6. Handling multiple images and developing new ideas (only for 7 sessions long mentorship)

  • 7. Making refined, finished artwork for your portfolio (only for 7 sessions long mentorship)

Slawek is a fantastic mentor who really helped me to take my art to the next level. Slawek took note of my areas of interest and found a way to incorporate them into lessons and demos, and he delivered detailed feedback in a kind way that made me feel excited to keep producing work each week! I'd highly recommend the mentorship to anyone, whether it be people working in the industry or hobby artists hoping to gain some new knowledge.

The mentorship really helped me develop how I think about light and colours and thanks to the feedback I was able to fix a lot of what I struggled with before. It was a great experience!

FAQs

  • Your mentorship could start within a few days after we decide on the day and hour of the meetings. If you need extra time, a few days or a week, that's totally fine. Also, you could secure a spot in advance; please email me beforehand and I’ll keep that in my calendar :)

  • This mentorship program has no skill level requirements and is suited for beginners and more developed artists. Even though the longer options have more structure and include lessons, I'll gladly adjust this mentorship to your personal goals and skill level.

I'm working on a PC with Adobe PS, but you could use any device and software you prefer. This is not a technical-heavy program by any means.

There is homework each week, and if you want to maximize the potential of this mentorship, make sure you give yourself at least 4-6 hours to complete it. Of course, if you can dedicate more time (without burning yourself out in the process), that's even better.

Also, if you're taking Sprint mentorship, consider (if possible) minimizing other activities for that time, so you can really focus on assignments and improvement!

  • Not really (unless you want exactly that)! I'm using a color bit like a springboard to cover all sorts of essential aspects of picture making; achieving clarity, making your image exciting for the viewer, getting strong composition, creating a sense of mood, etc. And if you're more interested in other topics, that's totally fine as well.

  • These mentorship sessions are very limited, and by joining, you're holding one of the potential spots someone else cannot take. When you're joining, I'm also committing to be available at a specific time and day every week for the duration of your mentorship, which means I have to say 'no' to both professional and personal plans. Also, I have to cover every purchase with processing fees (around 5%).

So if you have any doubts if this mentorship is a good choice for you, before making a purchase, please go through all the information provided here and ask any questions at contact@slawekfedorczuk.com. I'll try my best to answer every email and be very honest if I can recommend this to you. And if not, I'll be glad to suggest some alternatives. Also, you could check my Instagram feed, where I have over 250 examples of my work, a couple of tutorials/process breakdowns, and posts with tips to give you some idea of how I like to approach art and teaching. Also, please check the About section, which will provide more information about my experience as a professional artist. I hope that helps!

Lastly, by the end of the day, I want you to have a good experience with this mentorship. So if you're not enjoying your time here, please let me know asap, and we will try to find the best solution.

  • In the past, I had some students that wanted only to use a mic; and that worked perfectly fine. So if this is the way that is more comfortable for you, it is totally OK with me!

See what artists from the program have to say:

  • Slawek is an ideal teacher. He addresses where you’ve been, where you are, and where you’re aiming to go as an artist. Aside from providing valuable insight into making believable color harmonies and creating engaging lighting scenarios, he also makes sure you feel supported regardless of where you are in your art journey. He goes above and beyond to address concerns about your work while being especially cognizant of common pitfalls artists fall into. If you want an extremely organized mentorship experience with a knowledgeable and empathetic industry professional, Slawek is the perfect mentor for you!

  • I felt fully supported throughout the mentorship with the combination of 1:1 sessions + mid-week group calls. Slawek really understood my struggles in painting environment and doing effective studies, and was able to teach me workflows which are not only digestible and fun, but also sustainable and catered to my strengths. The pacing of the lessons and assignments was also well-planned, as I felt very productive tackling different topics each week without feeling overwhelmed. If you are looking for a mentor who is kind, encouraging and relatable, I highly recommend Slawek!

  • Mentorship with Slawek was PHENOMENAL, it's thanks to his great attitude, vast knowledge and glorious skill that I could finally push my portfolio to a whole new level. I had a lot of ideas and sketches that I just couldn't finish and yet here I am, actually (probably momentarily xD) happy with what I did. Great feeling! I'm very happy with signing up to this the moment I saw it being available, it's worth every penny - assuming you'll work your ass off. I sure did. xD Highly recommended for anyone wanting to step up one's game! PS. Also - despite identical surnames - we're not related in any way. xD

  • Studying under Slawek's mentorship this spring has put me, honestly, miles and leagues ahead of where I would have ended up on my own. And I still have so much to review, circle back to, and practice further from what we discussed. He's been nothing less than the kindest and most generous teacher I've ever had.

  • I would recommend anyone interested in improving at digital painting to study with Slawek! I've learned how to use color, value, and lighting more efficiently throughout the sessions I've had with him and I can notice a significant growth at the end of our mentorship class.
